What is an account ledger and why was my overpaid rental deposit put?
And account ledger is just like any other ledger-- a list of transactions on your account . If you overpaid a deposit and the overpayment was put on your account ledger, you are being credited with it. If you think it should have been refunded, just tell the landlord that you will deduct the overage from your next rent payment to get things even again. And, do this in writing, not verbally. I am by no means an expert in tenant law, but I see no reason why the landlord should keep an overpayment, and what I suggested above should take care of this.
